Students want to exchange information and ideas with their lecturers for better learning quality. This learning model has become a cornerstone of so many institutions.
Students must enjoy high-quality learning experiences as it is a crucial component of a student’s educational progress. Hence, institutions embrace new teaching modalities that engage both lecturers and students.
In a survey conducted for International students in 2019, about 49% of potential International students stated that one of the determining factors for choosing a course is high-quality teaching. For their choice of country in which they wish to study, about 55% of respondents according to the survey emphasizes the importance of high-quality teaching.
Also, when making their choice of institution, the emphasis was laid on high-quality teaching as a determining factor with a result of about 57% of respondents. Hence, new teaching methods have to be integrated to foster the lecturer and student relationships for a better learning experience.
Another trend that can improve the needs of students in their various institutions of learning is the concept of a flipped classroom. With this approach, it encourages teachers to share short lecture videos online before class proper, to dedicate actual class time to projects, discussions, and other collaborative learning exercises.
The flipped classrooms concept encourages students to learn and discuss within themselves and challenges them to research more by accessing more learning materials. However, this model largely depends on technological access to the learning environment.
Environments with poor technological access cannot integrate this learning concept, as it will be a major obstacle to students learning and class preparation as well as participation.
Hence, institutions must compare the advantages and disadvantages of having this learning model and determine if they can address the needs of their students.

Remote learning is another learning concept that fully relies on technological access. It allows students to easily study and learn flexibly online, no matter the distance. A lot of students now offer remote learning, however, it is essential to continually assess how these courses meet the needs of students and find out their difficulties, for improvement.
The learning model explores maximally the use of digital devices and technology in this modern age. Also, it makes learning flexible and accessible to many students out there, thereby meeting their needs.
Work-Integrated Learning Opportunities
Another determining factor that meets the needs of students for higher educational experience is work placements and internships. So many companies out there are on the lookout for graduates who already have relevant working experience.
According to the same survey for International students in 2019, about 32% of potential students are looking for institutions that offer good career services and have relationships with popular companies before they choose a university.
For their choice, of course, about 38% of respondents preferred a high graduate employment rate, and about 29% seek courses that have a work placement.
Institutions must examine how their courses can offer real-world experience to their students and remain competitive at all times in the labor market.
